Showers in parts of South, Central Gujarat and Saurashtra

Surat: Showers are reported in parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra regions of Gujarat on Ganesh Visarjan day today.

Surat city, Navsari, Vadodara, Padra, Kapadvanj are some of the areas in South and Central Gujarat where showers are reported.

In Saurashtra region, Amreli, Savarkundla, Rajula and other parts witnessed rains.

It should be mentioned here that monsoon is soon going to end in Gujarat. There’s deficiency of rain in Gujarat. Many dams in Saurashtra region are dry.

Gujarat is witnessing extreme humid and hot atmosphere for last couple of days.

More updates:

Maximum around 5 to 6 inches was recorded in Visavadar of Gir Somnath. Some area of Junagadh also received up to 5 inches of rain (According to local estimates as the official figures would be issued tomorrow).

Savarkundala and Rajula in Amreli district also received around 2 inches of rain.

Rain also lashed the southern city of Surat amid the ongoing Ganesh Visarjan.

In the evening many parts of Ahmedabad also received rains with strong wind. Ghatlodia, Ranip, Motera, Vadaj, Naranpura, S G Highway, Prahaladnagar, Vastrapur, Vejalpur, Kalupur etc witnessed light to medium downpour giving some respite to the city which today recorded the maximum temperature of 37 degree Celsius, over 3 degree above normal.

However, the Met department has not issued any heavy rains warning for the coming days.

The current spell of rain will also give a much needed respite to the farmers of Gujarat who were desperately waiting for it.
