ATS nabs yet another absconding accused of Gosabara RDX and arms landing case

Ahmedabad: The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat police has nabbed yet another absconding accused of the sensational Gosabara RDX and arms landing case of 1993, from Khar, the western suburb of Mumbai.

The explosives, which were smuggled through Porbandar coast, were allegedly used to trigger serial blasts in Mumbai in 1993.

So far around 50 accused in the case have been nabbed while 15 others including underworld don Dawood Ibrahim are still absconding.

ATS SP Himanshu Shukla today today said that one of the absconding accused Abul Sattar Noor Mohamed Ismail Baltiwala (70) was hiding in Khar in Mumbai. On a tip off he has been nabbed. He had attended the meeting in 1992 called by Dawood in Dubai to send RDX and arms for Mumbai blasts to avenge Babri Masjid demolition case.

Notably in the same case a court in Porbandar has extended police custody to Dadlimiyan alias Jusabmiyan Panjumiyan Bukhari, one of the main accused and the brother of Umar Ismail Bukhari alias Mamumiya Panjumiya acquitted in the case by the special TADA court earlier this year. Dadlimiya was arrested by Local Crime Branch team of Porbandar from Virar in Mumbai earlier this month.
Dadlimiyan had escaped to Dubai and lived there for 22 years. However, he had shifted to Mumbai four years ago and was living with a fake identity.

RDX used for Mumbai blasts were routed through Gosabara, a small coastal town near Porbandar (In Jamnagar district). 5 AK-47, one AK-56, 43 hand grenades and 3011 cartridges were also recovered from there. These arms had landed from Karachi, Pakistan which were used allegedly in the Bombay or Mumbai serial blasts. The blasts were planned by the perpetrators to avenge Babri Masjid demolition in 1992.
