Vadodara selected as Smart City, here are the area-specific and pan city projects proposed

Vadodara: Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu today announced the names of 27 cities including Vadodara selected for the Smart City project.

As per the draft smart city proposal submitted by Vadodara Municipal Corporation(VMC) city’s Sayaji area has been slected for area based development. The area covering 1540 acres is part of ward no. 6,7 and 10. It includes city bus depot, Sayaji baug, MSU, railway station, town hall and business district.

Introduction of electric rickshaws, charging point for solar powered e-rickshaws, pedestrian and cyclist friendly streets, integrated public space and parking management policy, smart dust bin/container system, no overhead cable zone, heritage walk, tourism information kiosk, tourist bus, reuse of heritage buildings, smart LED street lighting, smart water metering, solid waste solutions are some of the elements of area-based smart city projects planned by VMC.

Among pan city project proposed by VMC are city command and control center with centralized call center for all services and GIS mapping of utility. Common service platform for online tax payment, GPRS based HHT, online complaint and grievance redressal, utility survey and GIS, city surveillance system(CCTV), total sewerage solution and E-medical services.
