Fire Safety Issue: AMC again seals over 600 units of five buildings in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Amid the strong stance of the Gujarat High Court on fire safety issue in various high rise buildings in the city, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation today again sealed altogether 626 units in five buildings in Paldi and Lal Darwaza area which have not obtained NOC certificates so far.
The AMC also said that it will upload the names of the fire safety defaulters soon on its website.
Earlier on September 19 the AMC had sealed over 400 units in five other buildings including the National Handloom mart in Nava Vadaj area for the same reasons.
Today the AMC team sealed 180 units of Rangoli Complex, 55 of Maharana Pratap Complex, 63 of Sahjanand Trade Center, 160 of Harekrishna Complex (all four buildings situated in Paldi) and 168 of Kalidas Commercial Center of Lal Darwaza area totaling 626 units.
The High Court has instructed municipal commissioner, Mukesh Kumar to take appropriate action against the 972 high-rise buildings in the city which allegedly don’t comply with the fire safety norms. It has also instucted it to send reminders to the defaulters and also publish their list on AMC website.
Many other well known buildings in the city including the Acropolis Mall, Gujarat Housing Board building, GMDC building, Tradmark Registry building, May flower hospital etc have also been served notices by the AMC in this regard.
