Car of Visnagar BJP MLA attacked, complaint against Congress corporator

Mahesana: The car of Visnagar MLA in Gujarat from the ruling BJP, Rushikesh Patel was allegedly attacked by a group of unkown masked assailants after which the leader, whose office was also ransacked in July last year during a pro-patidar quota rally, lodged police complaint in this connection.

In his FIR lodged in the Visnagar police station late last night the MLA has alleged that local Congress corporator Paresh Patel and four othes inclduding Raju Patel, Ravi Patel, Sandeep Patel and Kaushik Patel had in the morning came to oppose a function he had participated in. Later in the evening at around 930 pm a group of around 25 to 30 persons with their faces covered, seemingly a gang which was trying to terrorize the local people to take control of the area, pelted stone and buring objects on his car with an intention to kill him.

Police said that it has lodged the FIR and investigation was on.

Mr Patel today said that some anti social elements pelted stones over his car near ITI crossing in Visnagar last night while he was returning from a function in the Dental college.

‘Many of the stone pelters had their faces covered while some were known to me,’ the MLA said adding that a local congress corporator and his aides might have hatched the conspiracy to eliminate him.

‘A gang of 25 to 30 anti social elements is active in Visnagar for quite some time and doing such attacks. They had damaged a bus and another vehicle few days ago and attacked a local BJP leader,’ the MLA said adding that they were some ambitious people who want to take control of the area by creating fear.

Mr Patel said that such elements also tried to create a scene last evening during his function in Visnagar.

Notably, PAAS leader Hardik Patel is facing a case of rioting for attack on Mr Patel’s office in July last year. The mob had also torched.
