Gujarat govt committed to set up bulk drug, pharma and medical devise parks: Rupani

Ahmedabad: Inaugurating a Pharmaceutical exhibition ‘Pharmac 2016’ at Gujarat University Convention hall in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said the government will start bulk drug park, pharma park and medical devise park in Gujarat with support of the central government. He appealed pharma industry to make sure that common people get quality medicine at affordable price.

Pharmac 2016 has been organized by Gujarat branch of Indian Drug Manufacturers Association. He said the industry took shape in Gujarat 110 years ago and today the state has emerged as pharma hub. He said the government is going to organize a special session during upcoming Vibrant Gujarat summit in presence of Nobel prize award winners from the areas of physics, chemistry etc.

Rupani said Gujarat is committed to start 300 ‘Jan Aushadhi’ stores in Gujarat which is initiative by Shri Narendra Modi led government in centre aiming to provide medicines to deprived class at cheaper rate.

Speaking in this function union minister Ananth Kumar said every third pill sold across the world is made in India. He said the government in center will set up the first pharma cluster through which 200 pharma companies will come to Gujarat with estimated investment of Rs 2,000 crore.

MoS in Centre Mansukh Mandavia, MoS in Gujarat Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Torrent group’s Sudhir Mehta, Cadila’s Pankaj Patel, president of the association in Gujarat Shri Viranchi Shah among others spoke in the function.
