No suspension of internet services on Sunday: MoS Home Gujarat clarifies

Gandhinagar: Minister of State for Home Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja today in a statement said that Home department has taken no decision to suspend internet services on Sunday, October 16 in connection with junior clerk exams that are to be conducted by Gaun Seva Pasandagi Mandal. He said internet services will continue to remain functional totally across the state on that day.

It should be mentioned here that there were media reports throughout the day suggesting that due to the exams for selection of 4500 class-3 peons, involving 1500 examination centers and 6.76 lakh applicants, internet services were to be suspended through respective district collector offices in order to prevent cheating. Section of media also claimed that at least couple of district collectors including Ahmedabad district collector had issued orders in this regard and they said it on camera. Looking at the copy of order it appears that Gaun Seva Pasandagi Mandal secretary had in video conference asked collectors to suspend internet for four hours and some collectors even issued orders.

However govt statement issued by MoS Home Pradipsinh Jadeja clearly mentions that no such decision was taken by Home department.

MoS cleared the air late in the evening and announced that internet will not be suspended.
