October 14, 2016
New Delhi: A state-of-the-art integrated control centre will soon be set up to assess emergency situations like terror attacks, natural calamities or major accidents on real time basis and prepare plans on how to deal with them.
The existing control room in the Ministry of Home Affairs would be upgraded to the state-of-the-art integrated control centre with real time information about emergency situations anywhere in the country.
The centre will be connected to satellite to get detailed ground reports and domain experts in 10-12 different fields would be deployed on the round-the-clock duty once it is operationalised, official sources said.
Experts from different fields who are working with the Army, Navy and the Air Force will also be roped in for better coordination and results, they said.
Union Home Secretary has given an in-principle approval and work for implementation of the project will start soon, they said.
The centre will also be connected to data from various sources, including Indian Meteorology Department, Remote Sensing Centre and a few foreign agencies, sources said. PTI
