Western Naval Command Chief visits Gujarat, reviews operational preparedness

Bhuj: Amid the heightened coastal and border security in the wake of escalated tension along the Pakistan border, Vice Admiral Girish Luthra, the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command visited Naliya, Bhuj and Koteshwar to interact with personnel and discuss issues related to operational readiness and ongoing Naval exercise Paschim Lehar during his two day visit of the state which concluded today.

He was accompanied by Rear Admiral Sandeep Beecha, the Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat, Daman and Diu Naval Area, based out of Gandhinagar.

Defence Spokesperson Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman today said that Vice Admiral Luthra held wide ranging discussions with personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force and the BSF during the visit.

‘He visited Air Force Station Naliya and Bhuj, the Army’s 75 (I) Infantry Brigadier, the Sector Headquarters and Koteshwar water wing of the BSF. He also visited a Floating Border Observation Post of the BSF in the creek region,’ Mr Matiman said.

He also held discussions with the Gujarat State Police and Civil Adminstration Officials.
