Intense political activities ahead of Vapi Municipality poll in South Gujarat

Vapi: Upcoming election of Vapi Municipality is attracting intense political activities in this industrial town and surrounding region.
Three Congress Councillors last week shifted to BJP ahead of the election. They were Rajubhai Patel, Rekhaben Patel and Naynaben Patel.
In nearby Bardoli, the Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch and their 200 supporters from Kareli village of Palsana taluka joined BJP.
According to Aam Admi Party cadre Rajiv Pande, his party will contest Vapi Municipality election under the banner of Sadbhavna Manch.
Vapi is key industrial town located at southern end of Gujarat. The town has nearly zero percent unemployment due to major presence of industrial units.
There are 11 wards in Vapi Municipality, and each ward has 4 Councillors. 50% seats are reserved for women.
The tenure of existing elected body is going to end on December 6.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani visited Vapi town last month just ahead of announcement of the election and imposition of model code of conduct. Rupani during his visit dedicated railway under bridge and other developmental projects.
Earlier this year in July, then Chief Minister Anandiben Patel had launched Rs 39 crore water supply project and dedicated jogging track, cycling track, boating, children play area, senior citizen park, Dungra talav beautification etc facilities at Lakhamdev Talav campus.
Vapi Municipality election is going to held on November 27. Nominations are to be filed during 7 – 12 November.
