PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate International Trading Center of BSE in GIFT City on January 9

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the international trading operations of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) at GIFT-City near Gandhinagar on January 9 on the occasion of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2017.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani made the announcement today while taking part in the bell ringing ceremony of BSE at Mumbai this morning, a government release said.

Rupani said that the Prime Minister will be in Gujarat on January 9 to inaugurate BSE’s international trading operations. He also thanked BSE for starting such international exchange at GIFT-City, the release said.

The biennial summit is scheduled between January 10 and 13 next year.

Rupani said that through such trading centre, Indian companies can list their shares in foreign currency and will be able to directly deal with international exchanges based in Dubai and Singapore, the release stated.

Elaborating on the GIFT-City project, he said it is India’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) and the total cost of the project is estimated at USD 20 billion.

He added that the IFSC has been recently notified by the Centre.
