Centre’s decision to lift moratorium creates opportunity for Rs 20,000 crore new investment: Shankar Chaudhary

Gandhinagar: Minister of State for Environment Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary today said, the decision by central government to lift moratorium on environment clearance in industrial areas of Vapi, Vatva and Ankleshwar has created opportunity for new investment of around Rs 20,000 crore.
The minister was speaking at inaugural function of Wastech International Expo.
Giving the idea of possibilities and opportunities in waste management/treatment/recycling sector, he said about 620 lakh mt solid waste is generated in the state, of which only 20-28% is recycled for reuse.
The three-day international expo which has been organized over 5,000 square meter area, involves 106 exhibitors and 20 global companies as participants. About 10,000 people are likely to visit the expo which is organized as Pre-Vibrant Gujarat summit event at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
