PM suggests three North Gujarat dairies to work for value addition products of Castor, Isabgol

Deesa: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi while speaking at Deesa town in North Gujarat’s Banaskantha district today suggested Banas, Sabar and Dudhsagar – three major dairies of North Gujarat region to come together and do research and work for value addition products of castor which is locally grown major crop.

The Prime Minister said: Banas, Sabar, Dudhsagar all three jointly can do one thing. 80% production of Castor takes place here but our farmers sell produce at cheaper rate. Processed product of Castor is used for even space shuttle, but we only sell it in row form for very cheap price. Banas, Sabar and Dudhsagar should form a research center to study value addition. Isabgol, another locally grown major crop variety can also attract value addition. Once I told Verges Kurien(Amul fame) to work for value addition to Isabgol produce. He came out with ice-cream made from Isabgol which was named as Isabcool. There’s huge global market for such products if we do it scientifically.

On honey product of Banas dairy which he launched today, the Prime Minister said: Banaskantha and Gujarat led white revolution(swet kranti), today I am happy that sweet kranti(sweet revolution) is also beginning here. From training for honey production to first packaging of honey in market today – I have full faith, Gujarat will succeed in this sweet kranti. Gujarat has dairy network in almost all districts. Farmers committees are also there. Dairy vehicles will carry milk and also honey. Extra profit, extra benefit! There’s market available for honey which is in huge demand.

Modi who also launched Kankrej desi cow breed milk today said AT milk will be good for health of children who need nutritious value.

Modi also launched Cheese factory of Amul on this occasion. He said: you will be surprised there are many countries that demand Amul cheese product. Stock gets sold out immediately from counter, he added.
