Maoist couple surrender in East Godavari District

Kakinada: Wanted maoist couple carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh surrendered before East Godavari police here today, a senior police official said.
Vetti Ungi alias Jyothi (22) and her husband Madakam.
Bandi (22) are members of Shabari area committee, a release issued by East Godavari Superintendent of Police Meesala Ravi Prakash said.
Bandi and Ungi were wanted by Andhra Pradesh police in different cases in the state. The couple is native of Gollaguppa village of Yetapaka mandal in the district, said the release.
Police have claimed that the couple admitted that they have been associated with maoists since 2003 as Shabari Dalam committee member and were part of the state committee of communist party. They were involved in ambush and gureilla attacks, kidnappings.
SP called upon Maoists to lead a peaceful life and be part of the mainstream society wherein police department will facilitate their rehabilitation.
