Gujarat govt shares more official details on Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Secretary J.N.Singh and Additional Chief Secretary(ACS) of Industry and Mines department P.K.Taneja today shared the details of upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017. Following are key details shared today with media:

There will be 12 partner countries in Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017. They are Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden, UAE, UK and America. In previous edition of summit there were 8 partner countries. The government has freezed the list at this juncture. According to Chief Secretary Singh, couple of days ago, another country proposed to become partner for the summit, but the request was politely turned down due to time constraint.

There will be 7 partner organizations supporting the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017. They are Australia India Business Council, Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, Japan External Trade Organization, UAE-India Business Council, UK-India Business Council, US India Business Council and British Council.

Global CEO round table will have 25 CEOs from Fortune 500 companies across the world and equal number of top CEOs from India. The conclave will be attended by Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Gujarat Chief Minister among others. Confirmation of 15 global CEOs are arrived. Many companies have offered to send second in command, but Gujarat government has rejected such proposals. Only main captain of the companies are invited.

About 100 successfully implemented projects, MoUs for which were signed in previous editions of Vibrant Gujarat Summit will be showcased in Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2017.

According to Additional Chief Secretary P.K.Taneja, out of total 51,000 MoUs signed in previous Vibrant Summit, over 34,000 are commissioned or under implementation which indicates 66% success.

A national level seminar on Goods and Service Tax(GST) will be held during the Vibrant summit in which Finance Minister himself will remain present. The seminar will be held in main hall.

The theme of Vibrant Summit 2017 will be: Connecting India to the world. All states of India are invited to participate in the summit. Some states including Arunachal Pradesh have confirmed their participation.

Nobel laureate exhibition to be opened by PM at Science City in Ahmedabad will remain open for visitors for five weeks. Nobel laureates will be divided in two groups on January 10 at Vibrant Summit. While one group will participate in panel discussion on the subject of ‘Basic or applied research? Fostering an innovative environment’ the other group will discuss ‘Local research, global impact – addressing global challenges’.

Vibrant Summit will also see seminar on ‘Make in Gujarat’ covering biotechnology, food processing, textiles, aerospace and defense, plastic, engineering, heavy engineering and automotive, chemicals and petrochemicals, pharma and medical equipment manufacturing.

The summit will host three ‘Action Seminars’ in partnership with The Value web. The ‘Action Seminars’ will bring together participants consisting of practitioners, experts, industry leaders, incubators, academic innovation centers, people from civil society and stakeholders from Gujarat Government with a purpose of ‘Make your own policy’. The group will be engaged in an intense 3-hour long brainstorming session combined with design efforts to create solutions for specific mission – critical challenges. The deliverable of these seminars will be a document of ideas generated that will eventually be transformed into meaningful policies delivering real benefits to the people. The topics for the three Action Seminars are ‘Smart and Livable Cities: Opportunities and Challenges’, ‘Innovation, Startups & Entrepreneurship’ and ‘Inclusive Growth(Agriculture & Rural Economy)’.
