Palanpur/Mahesana: One of the two boys who were hospitalized following electric shock through a tangled Chinese kite-string in a high voltage wire in Palanpur city of Banaskantha district on December 25 today died in a private hospital in Mahesana.
Police said that two boys Chirag and Nrup were flying kite in Chankapuri society of the city when its string got tangled up with a high voltage (65 kv) overhead wire. As the string was Chinese one with traces of metal, it behaved like a conductor of electricity and the two boys holding it felt a strong electric shock.
They were admitted to the local civil hospital from where Chirag was sent to Lions Hospital in Mahesana for better treatment but he succumbed today.
Notably, many cases of loss of lives owing to injuries caused by the Chinese string especially during Uttarayan season in the past prompted the authorities to ban it.
