Changes not likely in GCA body due to Supreme Court order: Nathwani

Ahmedabad: The recent order by Supreme Court is not likely to affect the positions of any of present office bearers at Gujarat Cricket Association(GCA) at this juncture, said Parimal Nathwani, Vice President of GCA in talk with a news channel here today.

“I understand, none of me or Amitbhai(the president of GCA) is going to be affected by Supreme Court order. None of us is 70 or above and we are not ministers or bureaucrats as Shri Shah is MLA and I am Rajya Sabha MP. Our 9-year tenure is not over. Ever since the new body took over, I think, none of us in existing body has completed 9 years in position,” Nathwani said in reply to a question adding that GCA would hold meeting to discuss the issue tomorrow.

In reply to another question he said, any cricket association will respect the order of the Supreme Court or will face contempt.

He added that people concerned are waiting to get copy of this order, as those who think they are touch-and-go or borderline case would like to study it.

He said ever since the Lodha panel report is out, the Supreme Court has made several observations and GCA has already started process to take actions accordingly.

Welcoming the Supreme Court order, Nathwani in reply to another question said, “the game of cricket will get streamlined thanks to this order. Mistake of few people was causing damage to entire world of cricket earlier. Cricket is India’s heart.”
