Gujarat Govt- Railways ink Rs 77000 crore MoU for bullet train parts manufacturing, 275 crore pact singed for Rajkot container depot, Dahej Logistic park

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government today signed an MoU’s worth over 77000 crore with the different firms under railways for manufacturing parts of high speed bullet train which will attract large scale investment in the state, setting up of a inland container depot in Rajkot and a logistic park in Bhaurch.

An official statement issued today said that MoU’s worth 77000 crore were singed with the National high speed rail corporation set up for the bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. ‘The Rs 77000 crore MoU’s were singed in presence of chief minister and deputy chief minister. 70% of the total 1.10 lakh crore project was to meant for Gujarat and accordingly Rs 77000 crores worth of MoU were singed between Gujarat and the corporation today’, the statement said.

Apart from this an MoU for setting up of High Speed Rail training center in Gandhinagar meant for training to the engineers and other employees of railway for bullet train project, was also singed today, the statement said.

In another event during the summit, the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) singed MoU’s with the Container Corporation of India under ministry of Railways today for setting up of a container depot with the handling capacity of 54000 containers in Rajkot with Rs 100 crore investment and a logistic park with 1 lakh container capacity in Dahej of Bharuch with an investment of Rs 175 crore.

Earlier in the presence of union minister for MSME, Kalraj Mishra, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today told newsmen in the premises of Mahatma Mandir, the venue of 8 th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, that the state government was also going to singe an MoU with the railways for manufacturing parts of the bullet train.
“We are signing an MoU with the Railways for manufacturing parts for high-speed bullet trains. This will attract business worth Rs. 67,000 crore (the amount estimated by the CM is less than that in the statement of Rs 77000) to Gujarat industries,” he said.

The Railways will also set up a container depot in Rajkot to boost exports from the Saurashtra region. “The Railways will invest about Rs. 100 crores in it,” Rupani, who hails from Rajkot said.

Notably the 25% cost of the bullet train project under the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd, is to be borne by the Gujarat government.
