Two corridors of Surat Metro rail get Gujarat govt approval

Gandhinagar: A high-power committee of Gujarat Government today approved two 40 km corridors (Chhara to Dream City and Bhesan Depot to Saroli) of upcoming Rs 12,800 crore Metro Rail project in state’s second largest Surat city with a total investment of Rs 12,800 crore. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) is at present in process of preparing a Detailed Project Report(DPR) for this project. The approval to two routes has been given based on the draft report submitted by DMRC earlier.

-7.50 km underground portion
-32.5 km elevated portion
-37 number of stations
-15,000 people surveyed before deciding route
-Saroli – Bhesan route to pass through Puna-Kumbharia canal road, millennium marketRaghukul market, Ring road, Majagate, Athwagate, Chopati, river crossing through bridge, Adajan side Badrinarayan Mandir, Adajan char rasta, Star Bazar, LP Savani road,Palanpur, Bhesan botanical garden
-Sarthana – Khajod dream city route will be mostly underground. It will pass through Varachha, Railway station, Cinema road, Lalgate, SMC office, Kasturba garden, Makkai bridge, Nanpura, Kadarsha nal, Majagate, Maja fire station, Althan tenament, Canal road, Sarsana convention center, Khajod dream city
-One more route of Metro rail project will be announced in upcoming days
-Depots for metro rail project will be built at Bhesan and Diamond bourse
