After failed love-jihad, a youth throws acid on college-mate in Gujarat

Navsari: After a failed attempt of love-jihad, a youth today threw acid on his college-mate in Navsari town of Gujarat.
Shahnawaz Syed Khalifa, who also studied in a local private engineering college here threw acid on a girl from Hindu community, who is also a third year student in the same college.
According to police Shahnawaz threw acid on the girl in the auto-rickshaw stand close to ST bus depot here this morning at around 8.45 am.
He wanted to marry the girl and when she refused to do so he committed the crime. Both the culprit and the victim were from different villages in Chikhali taluka of the district.
The girl has been admitted to a hospital. A case under section 326 and 506(2) of the IPC, section 3 (1)(r) and 3 (2)(5) of the atrocity act and section 66 (c) of the Information technology act 2012 has been registered against the culprit. Different teams have been made to nab him, police said.
The culprit used to tease the victim and had even threatened her to defame her by creating a fake facebook profile and posting her indecent photographs on it when she refused to marry him, the police complaint said.
