SMC approves zero liquid discharge treatment plant
January 23, 2017
Surat: The Standing Committee of Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) has approved a plan to set up Gujarat’s first ‘zero liquid discharge system water treatment plant’ with 120 MLD capacity at a cost of Rs 45 crore. The plant will take water from the river through a well and convert it entirely to potable water through treatment. In presently installed system, 5% water is wasted after treatment process. Proposed plant will prevent wastage of water after treatment and save enough water for one-day need of Surat city. Such plant has been successful in Rajasthan recently, based on which it is going to be replicated in Surat, for the first time in Gujarat.
