Gujarat Congress raises the issue of Camp Hanuman temple “closure”

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Congress president Bharat Solanki today questioned a decision to prevent visitors to enter Cam Hanuman temple in Army cantontment area of Ahmedabad for two days.

In series of tweets, Solanki said: Famous “Camp Hanuman” temple in Ahmedabad has been closed down for two days. This is unprecedented and has never happened in distant past.”

Raising the issue of closure of “Vaishno Devi” temple at SG Highway during Vibrant Gujarat Summit and Prime Minister’s visit early this month, Solanki tweeted: Also during Vibrant Summit, police closed down “Vaishno Devi” temple as SG Highway as cavalcades of dignitaries were to pass by there. It has become habit of police to close down any temple they please by citing “Security Concerns” instead of ensuring adequate security. It seems those who came to power with the promise of building grand temples are adamant on closing down the existing temples.

He further said: Camp Hanuman temple is situated in Ahmedabad cantonment in posh area of Shahibaugh. If by Government and police’s own admission, this area is not safe and secure then what about the rest of Ahmedabad and Gujarat?

It should be mentioned here that Camp Hanuman temple is situated in Army cantonment area which is a restricted area. In earlier days one could drive vehicle upto temple campus and park it there, but for last few years, Army asks temple visitors to park vehicles outside the cantonment area and walk to Camp Hanuman temple after some checking. It is for the first time that citing security reasons the entry to temple for common visitors has been prohibited on and around Republic day. However puja and other things are going on normally inside the mandir.
