Rupani travels by road as chopper could not take off due to technical snag

Anand: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had to return to capital Gandhinagar after participating in the main state level event of the 68 th Republic day in Vallabh Vidyanagar of Anand district, by road today as his chopper could not take off owing to some technical snag.

Anand SP Saurabh Singh said that Mr Rupani had arrived in Anand yesterday by a chopper which could not take off today owing to some technical snag.

‘The Chief Minister had to return by road owing to this,’ he said.

Governor O P Kohli, who hoisted the tricolor at Shashtri Maindan as the chief guest of the main event in presense of Mr Rupani, on the other hand had come here by road.

Both Mr Kohil and Mr Rupani had participated in various events including a cultural function at the venue last evening. The Governor today did the traditional inspection of Republic Day parade here.

The Governor and the Chief Minister had also yesterday felicitated 10 imminent personalities of Anand including shooter Ms. Lajja Goswami, Ranji cricketer Mr. Samit Gohil, Everest mountaineer Ms. Chetna Rana, Gymnastic Ms. Krupali Patel, Swimmer Ms. Anjli Patel, Mr. R. S. Sodhi (Dairy Industry), Mr. Sarvadaman Patel (organic farming), Dr. Bharat Patel (agriculture), Ms. Rajvi Banker (art and dance) and Ms. Ashaben Dalal. for their special contribution to society.
