Cigarettes worth over 1 crore smuggled from Dubai concealed under baby foot-wears seized at Mundra port

Bhuj: The DRI team of Gandhidham has seized 13.82 lakh foreign Cigarettes hidden under baby foot-wears from a container brought from Dubai at the Mundra port in Kutch district.
An official of the Regional Unit on DRI said that the seized cigarettes were kept in 96 master cartons and were of contraband Indonesian brand Gudan Gram. It was concealed behind baby foot-wears kept in the 20 foot sized container.
The estimated price of the seized cigarettes is over Rs 1 crore.
The consignment of baby foot-wears was booked by a Delhi based firm. The raid was conducted on a tip off.
The official said that this is fourth seizure of foreign made cigarettes at Mundra Port by DRI in this financial year.
Investigation is on to trace the importer and persons behind the smuggling.
