Chief Minister inaugurates 31st Gujarat Science Congress

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today inaugurated the 31st Gujarat Science Congress at Pandit Deendayal Petrolium University situated near capital Gandhinagar,

Mr Rupani on the occasion said that he wanted to formulate a new policy of science and technology which could provide suitable global platform in the field of science and technology the youth of the state.

The two days annual event has been jointly organized by Gujarat Science Academy, Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI), PDPU and Institute of Seismological Research (ISR).

‘Meaning of science is discovery of truth in real sense. In the seven decades since freedom, opportunities in science-technology were overlooked by earlier governments while now Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Niti Aayog have taken initiatives in this direction. As a result, the internal strengths of our youth got a new direction in science, technology and innovation sector through knowledge sharing,’ the CM said.

Mr. Rupani appealed the students to become scientists apart from choosing other career options. On the occasion, he felicitated teachers and professors for imparting quality education in the field of science, mathematics, biology, physics and space science.

Director General, GERMI Mr. T. Harinarayan welcomed the guests while Former Chief Secretary and Chairman to GERMI Mr. D. Rajgopalan described the purpose of the Science Congress.
Member of Niti Aayog Dr. V. K. Saraswat, President of G.S.A. Mr. Ashok Singhvi, Director General, ISR Dr. M. Ravikumar and Educators, Professors, teachers and students of Science and Technology were present on the occasion.
