Gujarat government announces Rs 4 lakh aid to kin of martyred

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government on Monday announced Rs 4 lakh financial aid to kin of Indian Army jawan Gopal Singh Bhadoria who was killed in Jammu and Kashmir during Kulgam encounter. The Chief made this announcement and added that kin of other each brave heart martyr from Gujarat who gave life for the nation in last six months will also be given Rs 4 lakh relief.

Bhadoria hailing from Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad, was martyred yesterday in firing by terrorists.

Bhadoria had rejoined duty on January 30 after leaving home in Ahmedabad. he was posted with the Rashtriya Rifles in Srinagar.

His family lives in Mahashakti Society in Hirawadi area of Bapunagar locality in Ahmedabad. Bhadoria was part of anti-terror operation during Taj Mahal hotel attack in Mumbai. He was given medal for saving life of a soldier during Taj attack operation, informed his father.

According to his family, Gopal Singh had left electrical engineering course in Nirma University in Ahmedabad midway. He decided to join Army as four members of his family had served the armed forces.

Gopal Singh’s younger brother Vikram Singh serves Home Guard while one more brother Sanjay Singh is Civil Engineer in Indore.

Gopal Singh’s father received two phone calls from Army yesterday – one informing him about injury to his son and another phone call to inform him about his son’s death.

Local MLA and minister Vallabh Kakadia and minister of state for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja will go to airport to receive mortal remains of martyr Gopal Singh.

Meanwhile the local residents in Bapunagar have decorated the street where Gopal Singh lived with national flags. Locals were seen chanting patriotic slogans.

Entire Hirawadi pocket of Bapunagar observed bandh and thousands had gathered to wait for arrival of martyr’s mortal remains.
