Actors’ son also struggle in film industry: Rishi Kapoor at Vadodara literature fest

Vadodara: Veteran Bollywood actor and ‘romance-king’ of yesteryears Rishi Kapoor today talked about his autobiography ‘Khullam-Khulla’ and shared his memories with the audience during a literature fest here.

On the first day of the 3 days Vadodara Literature Festival organized in a farm house premises near here, Kapoor also remembered the days of the shooting of his super-hit movie Prem Rog here around 35 years ago. He said that the memory has freshened up after arriving in Vadodara again. In a lighter vein he also said that one of his movies Rafoo Chakkar had a song ‘Chhuk Chhuk Chhak Chhak Bombay se Baroda tak’.

During his around 30 minute long interactive session he said that the urge to let the people know about the life-style of his family members and to let people know that the sons and daughters of an actor also has to struggle in the film industry were the two main objectives behind his writting the autobiography.

‘Non of the Kapoors had penned down their life stories earlier and I wanted to let people know about the life style of the Kapoor family which is in the industry for the last 90 years and still working,’ he said.

‘Also my book made people understand that it is not easy for the sons and daughters of the actors. Owing to being the son of Raj Kapoor saab, I got the break easily but later I had to struggle a lot to reach the place where I am now. Today also sons and daughters of actors struggle. If you don’t have talent then it was difficult to survive in the film industry,’ he said.

Kapoor said that he did not have any formal training in any acting but learnt it in ‘Kapoor Institute’, within the walls of the family studio. He said that he learnt to have faith in himself from his father, the legendary Raj Kapoor.
