531 km ‘Sea to Rann’ Kayaking cum Cycling expedition of Army concludes successfully

Ahmedabad: The 531 km long ‘Sea to Rann’ Kayaking cum Cycling expedition from Lakhpat to Dhranghadra by the Gujarat based Golden Katar Artillery Brigade of the Army concluded successfully today, Defense spokesperson Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman said.

‘An expedition involving kayaking and cycling was organized by Golden Katar Artillery Brigade with an aim of developing leadership traits and inculcating the spirit of adventure. The team comprised of one officer, two Junior Commissioned Officers and sixteen soldiers of the Brigade. The expedition team covered a total of 531 km in two legs, the first leg was of 46 km was covered by kayaking and the second leg of 485 km was covered by cycling,’ Mr Matiman said.

The expedition was flagged off from Lakhpat in Kutch district on February 15 for the conduct of kayaking leg. The team visited various border outposts and interacted with BSF personnel. The cycling leg commenced on February 21 from Koteshwar in Kutch district near Pakistan border and travelled through Khavda, Dholavira and terminated at Dhrangadhra. During the cycling leg the team interacted with the local populace at various places, studied the Flora and Fauna of the Rann and visited the Harappan site at Dholavira, he said.

The team was flagged in at Dhrangadhra Military Station today by Brigadier SS Bakshi, Commander Golden Katar Artillery Brigade. The commander interacted with the team members and congratulated them on the successful completion of the expedition.
