Terror suspect who had traveled and lived in South Africa on fake passport nabbed by ATS in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS )of Gujarat Police today nabbed a suspected terrorist from Sola area here who had spent years in South Africa on the basis of a fake passport.

Tassawur Ali (50), a native of Sant Kabirnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, who used to live in Ekta Nagar of Mumbra in Mumbai, was caught from the SG highway near Sola Civil hospital here on the basis of a tip off at 1145 am.

PI of ATS C B Tandel said that he had used a fake passport with his photo and his uncle Raj Mohammed Khan’s name for going and living in Johannesburg in South Africa for a long period between 2000 to 2016 during which he had come to India only thrice. He has returned to India finally in September 2016 and was living in Mumbai since then.

For getting the fake passport he has also got a fake driving license in his uncle’s name who lives in Surat.

‘We suspect some terror link and would seek his remand for further interrogation,’ the PI said.
