Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today announced starting 2,500 digital classrooms in state schools as a pilot project to suit the changing times.

Inaugurating the Techfest by Gujarat Technological University (GTU), he said that India is on the right path towards a global super power, pursuing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of Skill India, Digital India and Make in India. He recalled Mr. Modi’s laying the foundation of Gujarat’s march to development when he was the Chief Minister through Gyanshkti, Rakshashakti, Urjashakti, Janashakti and Jalshakti during successive Vibrant Gujarat Summits.

Speaking about his own government, Mr. Rupani said that 17 crystal clear policies have been prepared, including that on defence and aerospace, making the state as best destination for investment. The government has prepared a blueprint for setting up 58 world-class universities, centres of excellence and students startups.

He went round 60 exhibits at the Techfest displaying new inventions in robotic, nano and biotech engineering. He asked the bright students to patent their inventions for commercial use for the benefit of the society, for the poor, have-nots and backward classes. He asked the students of GTU make it an excellent institute to attract foreign students. He lauded the students’ contribution in constructing toilet in rural areas. His government is committed to the convert the students’ capabilities into opportunities, make them job-provider, and not job-seekers.

Mr. Rupani said that increasing the number of seats in engineering colleges, providing tablets at a token cost of Rs.1,000 for students after HSC, and setting up specialty universities.

Earlier, Principal Dr Vadodaria gave details of the Techfest and LM Pharmacy College Principal Chhabaria proposed a vote of thanks.

Those present on the occasion included GTU Vice-Chancellor Navinchandra Sheth, Registrar Bipin Bhatt, principals, professors and a large number of students.
