Vaghela, Solanki on Delhi visit
March 31, 2017
Ahmedabad: Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki and Leader of Opposition Shankersinh Vaghela are on visit to Delhi today. They are likely to meet party’s national vice president and top decision maker Rahul Gandhi in connection with upcoming Gujarat assembly general elections, scheduled to take place later this year. Gujarat Congress has completed ground visits of observers to each of total 182 assembly segments in the State. Lists of panels are handed over to State leadership by district level party units. The next step is formation of screening committee which will go through the panels and take decision on final list of candidates which will be eventually handed over to All India Congress Committee(AICC) for announcement. In year 2012 general elections of Gujarat assembly, the screening committee was headed by then union minister CP Joshi. Vaghela has started projecting himself as Chief Ministerial candidate of Congress party in Gujarat polls without nod from Central leadership. He is also pitching for Prashant Kishor to take charge of Gujarat elections. Meanwhile Shankersinh and Bharatsinh both were in same flight that had BJP national president Amit Shah also aboard. Amit Shah was returning to Delhi after two-day visit to Gujarat. There’s no confirmation, but reports suggest that Shah, Vaghela and Solanki met at the airport and had talks for some time.
