Gujarat govt arm GUVNL invites bids to procure 1,000 MW of solar and wind power



Gandhinagar: The state-run power utility , Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), will buy 1,000 MW of renewable power through competitive bidding, followed by an e-auction for the lowest price for which two separate tenders for procuring 500 MW each from solar and wind power projects are floated.

The request for selection (RFS) document suggests that, GUVNL has invited bids to procure solar and wind power to fulfil renewable power purchase obligations (RPO) and to meet the future needs of its distribution companies (discoms). The RPO mandates that distribution company buy electricity from renewable sources for a defined minimum percentage of the total consumption of its consumers.

The last date for submission of bids is July 10, 2017 and a prebid meeting for the tenders will be held on June 30.
