Valsad: At least 15 people trapped in their water submerged homes owing to flood like situation in Darutha Khadi area in Umargam takuka of Valsad district were rescued safely by fire brigade team this morning.

A fire official of the rescue team from Sarigam fire station said that the 15 members of the families including women and children had taken shelter over the roofs of the two houses situated behind the GHCL company premises.

They were rescued to safety today through ropes and other life saving devices by the firemen.

Some of their domestic cattle were also rescued.

Notably, Valsad district had seen around 8 inches of average rain yesterday which had caused water logging in many areas including many urban centers.
