PM’s Rajkot visit today: city bus services to halt, lawyers to stay away from work, holiday in schools

Rajkot: Services of all 90 city buses covering 44 routes in the city of Rajkot are withdrawn today due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city.

Bar Association has passed resolution to stay away from work today. Lawyers will join the functions of Prime Minister.

Most of the schools in Rajkot are also observing holiday today due to Prime Minister’s visit.

Municipal Corporation run schools have declared leave in afternoon schedule. However the staff will remain present.

The Prime Minister is arriving at Rajkot airport on 4.00 pm. Shri Modi had lastly visited the city in 2014 during the election campaign. He fought first election of his life from this city. Present Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is MLA from the same seat.

Meanwhile as many as 1450 state transport buses are reserved for PM’s functions today. All buses are GPS equipped. A control room has been set up at Aaji dam, racecourse and Rajkot depot. 900 buses are allotted for a function at Aaji dam site while 548 for racecourse site.

PM’s Rajkot schedule:

4.00 pm: Arrival at Rajkot airport; distribution of assistive kits to disabled people at Race Course ground

5.30 pm: Visit to Aaji dam to dedicate SAUNI scheme work; public meeting

7 to 8 pm: Road show from Aaji dam to Rajkot airport

8 pm: Departure for Ahmedabad
