1500 shifted to safer places, 100 rescued, 3 dead, 11 NDRF teams on alert: Gujarat govt

Gandhinagar: Following are the latest authentic details regarding heavy rain and flood situation in Gujarat shared by Principal Secretary of Revenue department, Government of Gujarat Pankaj Kumar.

– 11 talukas in Gujarat witnessed over 125 mm rain in Gujarat in last 24 hours.Highest was in Chotila 450 mm and Tankara 340 mm.

– Two persons are dead due to lightning while one is dead due to collapse of wall.

– 1320 persons were shifted to safer places in Tankara while 250 from the bank of river Machhu. In total 1500 are shifted to safer places.

– 47 are rescued from rive bed of Jodiya village.

– 50 persons are rescued from Ratidevdi village, 1 from Lodhika, 2 from Surendranagar. Rescue work has been done by NDRF, Fire and Police jawans.

– Two persons are rescued from a car near Wankaner.

– More than 100 are rescued and taken to safer places in Tankara-Morbi belt.

– One team of NDRF each has been moved to Surat, Valsad, Palanpur, Rajkot and Gandhinagar. Five teams are kept reserved.

– Power supply has been affected in 124 villages of 7 districts. Restoration work is on.

– Dhanera – Tharad – Vav national highway and other highways – in total number of 31 were closed for traffic. The process of giving diversion is going on.

– 13 dams are overflowing including 3 in North Gujarat and 10 in Saurashtra.

– District wise control room are activated. Contact number of each control room willbe 1077.

– Schools in Rajkot, Morbi and Padadhari belt are observing holiday today.
