Textile Sangharsh Samiti dissolved, leader Tarachand Kasot faces heat for failed agitation, misleading the traders

Surat: Tarachand Kasot who wasted 19 days of textile industry of Surat for something which was clearly impossible to achieve has been kicked out of the GST Sangharsh Samiti – an agitation body which announced strike in textile markets. The Samiti has also been disbursed.

Samiti’s meeting was held in Textile market’s board room yesterday in which Samiti member Dhanpat Jain revealed that Kasot had taken the Samiti members to Delhi to meet Finance minister Arun Jaitley without any confirmation of meeting from Jaitley’s office. Tarachand took Samiti members to Delhi without confirming meeting with Jaitley. Samiti members got to know this only when they reached Delhi. Kasot had lied that there was a meeting scheduled with Jaitley. He returned back from Delhi while other Samiti members contacted Mansukh Mandavia, CR Patil, Darshna Jardosh and Prabhu Vasava to help them to meet Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia or Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Samiti members alleged that Kasot misused the sentiments of agitating traders and played dirty politics. In the meeting, Lalit Sharma and Gajendrasinh Rathod strongly demanded removal of Kasot from Sangharsh Samiti. Their wish was granted by other members. Samiti itself was dissolved after this.

The representations before the Central government will now be made by FOSTA and not Sangharsh Samiti. FOSTA will seek government’s favor on 7 issues while 5 issues are dropped.
