Forest department rescues 3 Asiatic lions trapped between two flooded rivers in Gir

Junagadh: Amid the ongoing heavy rain the forest department has saved three Asiatic lions in Gir forest area in Amreli district who were trapped in an area between two flooded rivers Gagadia and Jamkudi.
A forest official today said that information was received yesterday that at least three lions were trapped in an area between the two rivers in Luvariya Krishnagadh.
‘The lions with their natural instinct had moved to a higher place and remained their till the rain-fed rivers flew dangerously. Our team went there and guided them to move to safer area once the water somewhat receded,’ he said.
Notably over a dozen lions were washed away and died during heavy rain caused flood in Amreli and neighbouring areas two years ago.
