Ahmedabad: Amid the criticism of Congress for absence of its MLA’s from severely flood affected districts of Gujarat, its national vice president Rahul Gandhi will make a brief visit to the worst hit Banaskantha district.
Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi today said that Gandhi would reach Dhanera directly at around 2 pm by helicopter after visiting flood affected areas of Sirohi and Jalore districts of neighbouring Rajasthan.
‘Apart from visiting the Malotra, Barotwas and Runi villages he would also held a meeting with local farmers and small businessman at APMC yard in Dhanera. He would also meet the flood affected people and party workers participating in relief and rescue work in the district,’ Doshi said adding that the party vice president would come to Ahmedabad at around 5 PM to board a flight to New Delhi.
Notably, six MLA’s from Banaskantha were part of over 40 kept at a luxurious resort near Bangalore. Ruling BJP has criticized them for not being with the affected people at the time of need. CM Rupani had camped in flood affected area for five days while PM Modi had visited it during heavy rains last month.
