August 04, 2017
Gandhinagar: Gujarat government today condemned the attack on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s car in Dhanera town of flood-hit Banaskantha district but also questioned as to why the congress leader was using a private vehicle leaving the bullet-proof one provided by the state government for him.
Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said that though there was anger among flood victims and locals owing to absence of local Congress MLA’s, the attack was a condemnable act.
‘No one can be allowed to attack a leader visiting any area. But the question is why was Rahul ji was not using the bullet proof car provided to him by the state government for the visit. He was moving in a private vehicle,’ Patel said.
Rahul’s car was attacked with a stone near Lal Chowk in Dhanera while he was going towards the local airport to board his chopper. A SPG jawan sitting on the rear seat sustained minor injury.
