Ahmedabad: In just last twenty four hours there are at least three news stories that cover how Gujarat model that came up under then Chief Minister Narendra Modi is being emulated elsewhere in other states:
Canal top Solar power plant at Vishakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: To adapt the Gujarat model, the Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited (GVSCCL) has invited proposals for the construction of a 5-MW solar power plant atop the Raiwada canal. Gujarat introduced the setting up of solar power plants over a canal in 2012. Asked if they have studied the results of the project implemented in Gujarat, GVSCCL executive engineer Sudhakar said, “Our consultants have gone through the projects in Gujarat and have concluded it was doing well. We have floated Request for Proposals for the project. The bidders will have to submit the proposals by September 30.” Reports Deccan Chronicle
Musi river development in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: To explore various options for the beautification of Musi river in Hyderabad, a team of officials from Telangana had visited Gujarat. The Musi river is now set for a Rs 1,665-crore makeover on the lines of the Sabarmati in Ahmedabad. KT Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, recently announced that a Rs 1,665-crore plan is being prepared for the beautification of the river. The Telangana Government plans to take up its beautification on the lines done on the banks of river Sabarmati in Ahmedabad. The government is keen to replicate the Sabarmati upgrade model. NSA Goondas Act to curb power theft in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to slap the stringent National Security Act (NSA) and Goondas Act against those obstructing electricity officials from discharging their duties while checking power theft.State energy minister Shrikant Sharma said said the state government would follow the ‘Gujarat Model’ of power distribution and keep a check on pilferage and establish dedicated police stations in all 75 districts where cases of power theft would be taken up. He said honest customers suffer because of power theft and the government is committed to check the menace.The tough ‘Gujarat Model’ envisages constitution of dedicated vigilance squads and setting up special police stations to check pilferage.
