Australian Broadcaster crew caught capturing video of sensitive parts of border district Kutch without permission

Bhuj: Video shooting without permission by Australian News Broadcast Corporation(ABC News) team was stopped and 16 GB video footage was deleted from their equipment in Kutch district of Gujarat.

It is learnt that ABC team was capturing video at Bharadi Dhunva place which is located between coastal towns Mandvi and Mundra in border district Kutch. They had not any required permission to do so. Two of the crew members were Australian while one from Delhi.

Primary motive of this shooting was portrayal of Adani Group in negative light in connection with environmental and livelihood related issues.

Adani Group has its port, power station and Special Economy Zone(SEZ) at Mundra in Kutch.

On Adani Group’s tip off, Local Crime Branch(LCB) staff of district police visited the hotel Fun Holiday Residency premises in which the Australian crew had stayed.

The LCB team asked ABC crew to show permissions for video shooting of sensitive coastal areas in border district. The team replied that it had no permission for shooting either from the government or from the port company. Police team got all video footage of vital installations captured by ABC News deleted and sought written assurance that no more shooting will be done in border district anymore by them.

The crew members are identified as Australian citizens Stephen Long James, George and Delhi based Nihar Gokhle.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is Australia’s national public broadcaster, owned and funded by the government. It has a total annual budget of A$1.22 billion.

Gujarat Headquartered Adani Enterprises said on Monday it plans to begin work in October to build the controversial Carmichael coal project in Australia, aiming to make its first shipment in March 2020.
