ABVP snatches MS University Vadodara students’ body from NSUI in shinning electoral victory
October 06, 2017
Vadodara: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, a students organization under umbrella of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) has won Vadodara’s M.S. University election comfortably. With this victory, ABVP has snatched the campus from Congress party’s students’ organization National Students Union of India(NSUI).
In 2013, NSUI had snatched two top posts of UGS and VP from ABVP in MSU elections. NSUI had later continued to retain its dominance in students’ union elections of MSU. However, this year ABVP has defeated NSUI.
ABVP candidate Rati Mehta has won the post of Vice President(VP) with comfortable lead of 2,325 votes while independent candidate Priyanka Patel who left NSUI some time back and fought under ‘Jay Ho’ banner has won the post of UGS(General Secretary). There’s a buzz that Priyanka Patel is soon going to join ABVP.
Rati Mehta is daughter of BJP Councillor Shailesh Mehta (Sotta).
It should be noted here that ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)’s youth organization Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha(BJYM) was trying to ensure ABVP’s defeat in this election by extending support to Happy Club candidates. Despite of all challenges ABVP achieved success in elections.
NSUI is facing defeat just four days ahead of party’s national vice president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to city. Rahul is arriving at Vadodara on 9th. His one of scheduled event in Vadodara is address to youths.
