PM Modi arrives on two day Gujarat visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today arrived here on his yet another Gujarat visit during which he would inaugurate/lay foundation of various projects including the International Airport in Rajkot and Okha-Bet Dwarka cable stay bridge.

The special air-force aircraft of PM Modi landed at the Jamnagar airport where CM Vijay Rupani, Dy CM Nitin Patel, former CM Anandiben Patel, Chief Secretary J N Singh welcomed him.

PM Modi went to Dwarka by helicopter. He will start his trip after performing puja in Dwarkadhessh temple there.

During his two day trip PM Modi would also inaugurate a medical college cum hospital tomorrow in his home-village of Vadnagar in Mahesana district of North Gujarat. Incidentally, It would be his first visit to his native village after becoming Prime Minister.

PM Modi would shortly lay the foundation stone for a bridge, connecting Okha to Bet Dwarka. This 3.92 km-long cable stay bridge will add to the convenience of pilgrims. The estimated cost of this four lane cable stayed signature bridge is Rs 962.43 crore. Dwarka nestled in extreme west of the Saurashtra peninsula along the Arabian Sea is a must stop for any pilgrim. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, the Bet Dwarka temple is an extremely sacred destination, but currently, it can only be reached by a ferry service from Okha.

After this he would reach Chotila in Surendranagar district at around 1230 pm to participate in an event there during which he would lay the foundation stone for the state-of-the-art Greenfield International airport of Rajkot to be constructed a joint venture of the Airport Authority of India and Gujarat government at a cost of estimated Rs 2500 crores in the adjoining area, he would also do the same for 6 laning of Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway and 4 laning of Rajkot-Morbi highway. He would also inaugurate the 2 lakh liter capacity Milk processing and packaging plant of Sursagar Dairy and a water supply project in the four zones of Surendranagar city. The new Rajkot international airport is likely to be functional in next five years. It has been necessitated owing to no further scope of the existing one situated in Rajkot city and which only operates domestic flights. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapati Raju will also remain present on the occasion.

PM Modi would come to Gandhingar in the evening today to dedicate the new building of IIT Gandhinagar near Palaj, he would also participate in an event pertaining to the rural digital literacy campaign from the same event. Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravishankar Prasad, Union Human resourse development minister Prakash Javdekar, his deputy Satyapal Singh and union minister of state (independent charge) for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam‎ will also remain present on the occasion.

PM Modi, who has so far made around half a dozen visits to his poll bound home-state this year, would make a night halt in Rajbhavan today where he is likely to hold discussions regarding poll strategies with top BJP leaders including CM Vijay Ruapni.

Tomorrow ie October 8 he would go to his home village Vadnagar in Mahesana district to inaugurate the GMERS medical college and hospital there. He would also dedicate another hospital in Himmatnagar electronically from Vadnagar. He would also initiated the intense campaign for immunization of children under mission Indradhanush and also distribute e-tablet to the women health workers.

In the last leg of his visit, he would go to Bharuch district to lay the foundation stone of a Barrage on the Narmada river in Bhadbhut. The barrage, built at a cost of Rs 4337 crore, will help deal with salinity that affects potable water sources and local industries as well as irrigation facilities. Bhadbhut barrage is a part of the ambitious Kalpsar project in the state. He would also inaugurate or lay foundation stones for various projects of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd worth around 600 cores. PM Modi will also flag off an Antyodaya Express from Udhna near Surat to Jaynagar in Bihar. This new train will reduce the travel time for migrant labourers. The 1,871 km-long journey between Udhna and Jaynagar will be completed in 38 hours.

PM Modi would then return to New Delhi from Vadodara airport tomorrow.

He is again likely to visit Gujarat on October 16 to participate in an event of ruling BJP in which he would address a massive rally of over 7 lakh people.

In the recent past he had visited Gujarat twice last month; first on September 13 and 14 to lay the foundation stone of bullet train with visiting Japanese PM Shinzo Abe and then on September 17 on his birthday to dedicated Sardar Sarovar Dam on river Narmada to the nation.
