Transparency has become ‘unique identity’ of Modi government – Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in Gujarat

Ahmedabad:

Railway and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal today said that transparency has become the ‘unique identity’ of Modi government which has taken such strict steps against black-money, black-marketing and corruption in its tenure of last 3 and a half years which were unprecedented in the history of the nation.

He also said that the government was ensuring investigation of all the 714 Indians linked with Paradise Papers leak but could not make the names public at its own owing to international relationship protocols.

Addressing a press conference here today Goyal said that Congress which was submerged in corruptions and scams during its rule was now questioning the BJP.

‘Congress can’t name even two proper steps it had taken against black money during its regime. On the other hand our government has taken unprecedented steps against black money, black marketing and corruption. It was working on the suggestions of the SIT in a transparent manner. In fact transparency has become an unique identity of our government,’ he said.

To a query he said that the government had ordered inquiry in to earlier Panama paper leaks and now each of the 714 Indians linked with recent Paradise papers leaks regarding investment in foreign firms would be interrogated. But one should not be taken as culprit only owing to his name being in Paradise papers.

‘I am surprised that a senior Congress leader who was finance minister for 10 years was saying that the government should make the names public. The government can’t do that as it will affect the cooperation with other countries. This can’t be done as per international protocols,’ he said.

He, however, said that if someone moves to a court and if its finds it proper, it might order to make the names public.

Earlier Goyal also participated in the door-to-door contact campaign of ruling BJP as part of its ongoing Gujarat Gaurav Mahasampark Abhiyan in Nikol area of the city. Party MLA from Daskroi Babubhai Patel also accompanied him.

Goyal said that people have full faith in BJP and its good-governance and it would get more than 150 seats (of total 182) in the assembly polls.
