Rupani couple has Rs 7 crore property, his rival Rajyaguru has Rs 141 crores property

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani today filed his nomination papers as BJP candidate for Rajkot-West assembly seat in presence of union finance minister cum election in-charge of Gujarat Arun Jaitley.

Congress candidate Indranil Rajyaguru, one of the richest contestants in the fray across the state, also filed his nomination on the seat. Indranil,an incumbent MLA of Rajkot-East seat has changed his constituency to challenge CM Rupani on his seat.

Meanwhile as per the affidavits submitted by the two candidates Rajyaguru has a total movable as well movable property of around Rs 141 crores with 13 vehicles including many luxurious cars worth over five crores. Rajyaguru who was rated as the second richest MLA in Gujarat during last assembly election in 2012 with the then property of Rs 122 crore was only second behind his party colleague of that time Balwantsinh Rajput (Now in BJP) who topped the table with Rs 225 crores.

Rupani and his wife Anajliben on the other hand have a total property of around Rs 7 crores. Of this Rupani and his wife have movable property of Rs 3.45 crores and 1.98 crores respectively and immovable one of Rs 55 and 82 lakhs respectively.

Rupani, who filed his papers in the ‘Vijay Muhurt’ of 1239pm (a tradition since the tenure of the then CM Narendra Modi for doing auspicious things) had started the day today with the puja of Narmada water at Aaji dam here.

He also visited various temples, Derasars (jain temples) and saints and also met the over hundred year old lady Aajiben before filing his papers. He also rode a two wheeler in the crowded areas before addressing a public meeting near Bahumali Bhavan in which he expressed confidence of his huge margin victory as well as BJP getting over 150 seats.

Congress has fielded its MLA Indranil Rajguru against Rupani by changing his existing seat. Rupani had won the seat in the October 2014 bypoll which was necessitated owing to the then MLA and speaker Vajubhai Vala’s elevation as Karnataka governor in May 2014.
