Gandhinagar: Being a spokesperson is considered rewarding job in Delhi, but in Gujarat politics, it seems a thankless job.
Neither BJP nor Congress favored any of their spokesperson and media team members for ticket in this election.
Congress spokesperson Himanshu Patel who frequently appears on Gujarati news channel for political debate was seeking party ticket from Gandhinagar South seat. However party has fielded Thakor community candidate. Sulking Patel soon after announcement of Congress candidate list told a TV channel he would go to Ummed hotel in Ahmedabad to have a tea with NCP leader Praful Patel. However, later he denied reports that he was joining NCP.
Another spokesperson who was once removed from spokespersons’ list for his extra aggressive and rough behavior in TV debates Jayrajsinh Parmar had sought party ticket from Kheralu seat in North Gujarat. He too has been denied ticket.
One more spokesperson Manhar Patel had sought ticket from Botad which was denied. Rekha Chaudhary, another spokesperson has resigned from the party after denial of ticket. She wanted to contest from Bahucharaji.
Active spokesperson Dr. Manish Doshi who spends lot of time for party at State headquarters and also participates in TV debate, wanted ticket to contest from Vadhwan. Doshi had previously sought ticket from his native place Halvad. Party has not favored him on both occasions, in 2012 and now in 2017.
Party spokesperson and Ahmed Patel loyalist Nishit Vyas wanted to contest from Gandhinagar North seat. He has been denied ticket too.
Even in BJP, none from media team, spokespersons and TV debate panel participants is given ticket.
