Atmospheric temperatures take a dip, 3 places record single digit temp, Naliya coldest at 8.4 °C

Ahmedabad:

Even as the ‘temperature’ of political circles in Gujarat was soaring with the inching closer of the D-day (counting day for the recently concluded assembly polls of December 18), the atmospheric temperatures today took a plunge owing to heavy snowfall in the Northern states accompanied by Northerly to Northeasterly wind pattern with at least 3 places seeing mercury dipping to single digit figures.

Naliya in Kutch district notorious for its low temperatures during winter saw the lowest at 8.4°C while Amreli in coastal Saurashtra recorded 9.3°C and Bhuj, the headquarter city of Kutch remained third coldest with minimum temperature of 9.8°C.

Ahmedabad, though also saw increase in cold yet it was comparatively warmer with the minimum temperature of 13.6°C which was almost normal. The maximum in the city at 26.6°C however was 2.7°C below normal.

Though the temperatures are likely to remain low in the coming days also and there was some ‘biting’ feeling during the morning and late night hours, the met department has not issued any cold wave warning as yet.
