2 dead, 5 injured in fire in a building in village near capital Gandhinagar in Gujarat

Gandhinagar:
A 45 year old woman and a 4 year old boy died a tragic death and 5 others including 3 women inured in an early morning fire that broke out in a 3 storied building in Vavol village in sector 7 police station area of Gandhinagar.
Around 16 two wheeler and two cars parked in the open pillared parking lot beneath the building were also damaged in the fire.
Chief Fire officer of Gandhinagar Mahesh Kumar Modh said that a call regarding fire in Sagar complex in Vavol village close to Gandhinagar was received at around 0545am this morning.
The fire was though controlled later yet a woman identified as Kahkasha Bano and a 4 year old boy Zahir who perhaps got trapped in dense smoke and heat caused by fire died on the spot. 5 others with burn injuries were admitted to Ahmedabad civil hospital. The father of Zahir who was also among injured was serious.
‘The fire which might have been caused by a possible short circuit started in the wee hours when everybody was sleeping. There were 15 to 20 two wheeler and three cars were parked in the hollow pillared parking space beneath the building. It was all very congested,’ he said.
