Ahmedabad: It was a Sunday morning with lot of events in offering. In Ahmedabad, dog show kicked off with presence of 270 dogs including 24 police dogs. Also kicked off was International Kite Festival(IKF) organised by the State government arm Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. The lated edition of IKF has presence of over 150 kite flyers from 44 nations and over 200 kite flyers from 18 States of India. In total 300 kite flyers are participating in this festival which is being celebrated at Sabarmati Riverfront today. In Junagadh, Girnar ascending descending competition kicked off today morning in which over 1,000 participants from across Gujarat. In Palanpur, film-actor Aamir Khan was among nearly 500 guests travelling from outside to participate in a function organised to mark 70 years of Vidyamandir school. Around 400 Jain traders from Mumbai and elsewhere were present to participate in this event. Actor Aamir Khan inaugurated a new complex and held talk with mentally and physically challenged children. In Vadodara, thousands of people participated in International Marathon’s this year edition. There was an incident of death due to cardiac arrest in this marathon. A 61-year old person Mr. Bharatbhai Somani from Rajkot died during marathon run. The organisers announced Rs 1 lakh relief to late Mr. Somani’s family. In Valsad city of South Gujarat, another marathon event was held. It hit headlines as minister of state Raman Patkar fainted probably due to low sugar. He was given energy drink. The minister left the event venue in healthy state. At Hindu Service Fair (HSSF) at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad, Matru Pitru Vandana programme was held today morning while Sainik Sammelan was scheduled to take place in the afternoon. Flower Show at Sabaramti Riverfront, Global Patidar Summit at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat Literature Festival at Kanoria Art Centre in Gujarat University area of Ahmedabad are some of the other event that are in offering today. Former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel addressed Global Patidar Summit. At Telav on Sanand road near Ahmedabad, Haridham Sokhda fame Hariprasad Swami’s 84th pragatostav is scheduled to take place today evening in which union finance minister Arun Jaitley, Satyamitranandgiriji Maharaj, Hariprasad Swami among others are going to remain present.
