Gujarat to host the 1st edition of REFCOLD INDIA 2018

Ahmedabad: With a spectrum of opportunity and growth in the cold and refrigeration industry, an International Exhibition and Conference on Refrigeration & Cold Chain Industry will be held during 22nd-24th November, 2018 at Mahatma Mandir Convention cum Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. at Mahatma Mandir Convention cum Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The exhibition is of essence to the temperature controlled transport, storage and services that caters to sectors like ports, shipping and pharma companies, cold storage owners among others.

The announcement to host the first edition of the event in Ahmedabad was done today in a press conference in the presence of Vishal Kapur, National President, ISHRAE, Pankaj Dharkar, Chairman-REFCOLD India, and Sonia Parashar, Chairperson and MD, NÜrnbergMesse India Pvt. Ltd.among others. “The conference will be attended by large number of International industry delegations from various countries. Over 300 exhibitors are expected to showcase their domain strengths in the exhibition to an expected footfall of 25000 persons across a vast exhibition area of 15,000 sq.m.” Pankaj Dharkar, Chairman-REFCOLD India said.

“The Cold Chain Industry is developing at a faster pace in India due to shift in focus from increasing the production to better storage and transportation facility of the commodity. The industry has now become an integral part of the supply chain industry comprising of refrigerated storage and refrigerated transportation. Owing to the rising need of the infrastructure to reduce wastage, the cold chain industry in India is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of 19% during the period of 2017-2022”, Mr Pankaj Dharkar added.

According to a data published by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, harvest and post harvest loss of India’s major agricultural produce is estimated at Rs 92,651 crore. The loss is almost three times as high as the new budget for the agriculture sector, which has seen an increase of 44 percent from Rs. 24,909 crore in 2015-16 to Rs. 35,984 crore in 2016-17.About 16 percent of fruits and vegetables, valued at Rs. 40,811 crore, were lost, according to an analysis of production data between 2012 and 2014, at wholesale prices, according to another report.
